What is a Ripening Calendar?

In the traditional supermarkets, they buy vegetables shipped in from around the world and keep them in cold storage until they put them out to sell.
We let our vegetables stay on the vine or plant until the moment they are ready to harvest. You get the best taste, best color, and best nutrition!
Since different vegetables take different lengths of time to mature to full flavor and nutrition, a ripening calendar is a way to estimate when a particular vegetable or fruit is likely to be ready for harvest.
The information here will help you estimate when to come by for your particular favorites.
As July rolls around, we encourage you to check back here often to see if we've opened, and what vegetables are available. When in doubt, if it's not posted here, feel free to call or email us with your questions!
Nothing beats our sweet and juicy cantaloupe and watermelon- the perfect way to beat the heat!

After that, we move into the season of peaches and pears, winter squash, and sweet potatoes so yummy you wonder why they can't grow year round!
And don't forget us in the fall! You are probably going to be here to experience the great fun of our new Corn Maze, so why not plan on selecting your pumpkins and fall decorations while you are out! |
Today's Harvest wants you to know
the difference that farm-fresh makes.
Vegetables picked today and cooked tonight taste oh-so-much better,
and they are better for you!
Remember, once an ear of corn has been taken off the stalk, the sugars we all enjoy begin to turn to starch. By the time the corn is harvested and finds it way to traditional supermarket shelves, not to mention, your kitchen table, it could be weeks old!
The difference at Today's Harvest is that we pick it fresh each morning- it's coming from the field, not cold storage! Buy it today, cook it tonight...and you'll taste the delicious difference!
We grow all the produce we sell, right here on our farm. We focus on freshness and quality, because we focus on you!
